Fat Friday

Well, today was celebratorious, for no other reason than that French people like to get fat. So we celebrated Vendredi Gras (instead of Mardi Gras, which is on Tuesday. We didn't have time last Tuesday to squeze in the "festivities") which included eating of many and much junk foods. Of course, they were French junk foods, so it was all allowed. We pigged out on crepes and watched this show from the 80's called Telefrancais...i think it means something like "learn french". Anyway, it's a little kid show that we all love, for the sole purpose that it's so corny it's hilarious. The main people are two kids named Jacques and some other chick, along with a pinapple, whose favorite line is "Je suis un anana!" which means "I am a pineapple". You would think that you wouldn't be as proud of it as he is, but whatever floats your boat, I guess. We managed to watch about 3 episodes while making and pigging out on crepes. At one point, Anana was talking to someone on the phone, and he said his line (Je suis un anana) and the other guy said "Je parle un anana? Ha! Je suis une banana!" (I'm talking to a pineapple? Ha. I'm a banana!)We all laughed mucho.

By the time the bell rang, we still weren't out of batter for the crepes so Katherine, me, and two other guys whose names escape me stayed for about 10 minutes after class to make some more. The guys kinda just sat off to the side waiting for crepes while Katherine and I squabbled over the crepe maker. Cue cute guy. He was from one of Mme. Clark's Spanish classes, and he was coming in to take a makeup test. He didn't want any crepes, tho. I was insulted. :P But not really. They were pretty good. Especially with jam, whipped cream, and powdered sugar. I should make them at home sometime. They are mucho tasty. And just loaded with butter. That's the best part.
